For the At-Large Council Race, with 242
votes, only incumbent Councilmember-at-Large Vincent Orange had more
than 60 percent of the votes required for endorsement. Of the
other candidates running for the At-Large Council seat, Mr. Peter
Shapiro had 50 votes; Mr. Sekou Biddle had 28; and Ms. E. Gail
Anderson Holness had 14.
Of the candidates who ran unopposed,
President Barack Obama received 336 votes, D.C. Delegate Eleanor
Holmes Norton received 308 votes and D.C. candidate for U.S.
Representative Nate Bennett-Fleming won 219. In the District of
Columbia United States Senate race, Mr. Michael D. Brown had 149
votes and Mr. Peter Ross had 118. In closing, Mr. Brannum
complimented the hard work of the D.C. State Democratic Committee,
members of the Ward 5 Democrats Executive Committee and the diligent
team of volunteers for successfully running a free, fair, open and
transparent election.
